In Lynchburg, Virginia, you'd been had But you had it in ya, to fight back And if I know you, you believed you could make it happen With the truth, or at least through righteous action "wake up," they tell ya, "it's in the past" but there's just somethin' they can't grasp They tell you they can't believe it's been such a long time But, for you, it will always be part of your bloodline If you ever wonder why I love you it's cuz you don't know how to lie or back down If you ever wonder why I love you it's cuz you believe when the others just don't know how Out in the garden, growing wild thousands of sunflowers for miles and miles Under the moon, in full bloom - a midwest classic So here's to you, I always knew you were something fantastic

So Long 03:55
I'm sick of sitting here waiting for the sun to shine I twitch like a frigid deer standing in the headlights and to move, I'd do anything So long. I've lived in fear so long now and my song, I couldn't hear, though it was so loud It's so hard to hear anything I don't know what I'm still doing here - I long to be free Under the wind and this denim sky and the black tangled trees, I made up my mind to get outta here, but my tired old feet won't go anywhere won't do anything That's all, so long That's all, so long

about

Long awaited (by me), it's my latest collection of (2) songs, entitled "Midwest Classic." Named after a tattoo shop that I pass on the way to work, "Midwest Classic" is kicking off a series of releases I call the "ARP (& friends) " series. COVID has made me really appreciate and miss all the people I have been lucky enough to make music with over the years, so I've decided to reprise some of my favorite collaborations (in this, the most un-collaborative time in history) with a view to move toward making more collaborative music in the future.

This release features my friend Adela S. on cello. She is able to just show up to my house after hearing a rough demo the night before and make my little songs sound so much better and more musically intelligent I could have imagined them just by coming up with parts on the fly. Adela first joined me for a record on "Parlour Punk," which I think is one of my best albums (mainly because of her). Be sure to follow her @cellocabbage, @adela_onair on instagram as well as her many radio projects on @auxchicago and @theunderbellyhours. Adela is making a name for herself in Chicago music and radio and I am happy to say I know her and that she was willing to play on my songs.

*we recorded this safely and socially distant at my house in Chicago with masks and the whole shabang.*
