my wife doesn't get this one and says my metaphor is weak, but I think it's catchy anyway. I was thinking a lot about why people can't go certain places in the built world, why people can own land, and that bit in that one other song about "this land is your land, this land is my land." I think in Scotland they have a law called "right to roam" which lets you just pretty much go wherever. I don't think that'd fly in the USA, but it would be cool.

I guess it's a bit of a luddite anthem - like "whoa how did we get to this crazy place and time where everything is so built up, and how can I find peace and quiet?" So in a way, the fact that the metaphor is confusing sort of plays on the theme of confusion itself... I meant to do that... yeah, that's right...
