about

A little ditty about my favorite vacation spot - I hope this summer finds you in yours! Also can we just appreciate how many rhymes I came up with for Eagle Harbor!? I mean come on!

Shouts out to Brett Knickerbocker for the bass & electric guitar work plus back-up vocals - makes this track really cook! And, of course, shouts out to Rick Riggs at Handwritten Recording for the tracking, mixing, and rad-dude-ness.

*The photo above was not actually taken in Eagle Harbor... it's the Oregon coast, but I thought it looked cool and worked for the single

lyrics

Lyrics:

Well I don’t claim to play the part of the martyr
But I just don't think I can work any harder
I’m a real go-getter a real self-starter
But I think I’m in need of a little recharger

I’m takin few days up in Eagle Harbor...

Well it’s a real change of pace up in Eagle Harbor
No need to make haste up in Eagle Harbor
now I can’t be late - makin an early departure
Without a delay not a moment to waste…

I’m gone I’m gone
I’m gone to Lake Superior
I’m gone I’m gone
I’m gone to Lake Superior
Where I belong

Well I’m driving up north till I can’t go any farther
Yeah I can’t wait to escape up to Eagle Harbor
Well it ain’t no Hollywood or Santa Barbara
But when the red sun sinks into the water
No one can say anything any smarter than…

“Oooh...oooh... ooh"
Ahhhh...ahhhh...ahhhh"

Bridge:
Oh I can’t get enough of the Keweenaw peninsula
Oh get me to Gitchie Gumee. I’m in love
With the moon and the loons, the pontoons and the pasties
They say it’s “Gods Country” and it’s true if you ask me:
Life everlasting with each summer passing by

Now Ain’t nothings changed since President Carter
Since we first found out who was Luke’s father
But there ain’t nothin you could say or pay, trade or barter
To keep me away, so don’t even bother

I’m gone I’m gone
I’m gone to Lake Superior
I’m gone I’m gone
I’m gone to Lake Superior

When dawn has come
I’ll be gone to Lake Superior
When this song is done
I'm gone to Lake Superior
where I belong
